Letting layers fall.
The Naked Notes discusses Sex and Love. Stripped down with zero shame, but a whole lot of freedom and boundaries.

The Backstory

With a tray full of cookie crumbs and two long-empty coffee cups, I walked down the stairs of the park café with my friend Ada, who was visiting for the weekend. The coffee residue had practically glued itself to the cups: a testament to how long we’d been talking. There was plenty to catch up on, and my heart felt full in that warm, fizzy way only good friendship can manage.

I slid the tray onto the dish cart, and as I bent forward, my bag slipped off my shoulder. My notebook spilled out, and with it, a small purple pouch tumbled to the floor.

“Pretty bag,” Ada said.

“Thanks,” I grinned. “It has even prettier underwear and a toothbrush in it. And the biggest game changer: my travel size contact lense solution... not having that was a real mood kill sometimes.”

“Your slut bag? I used to have one of those.”

“Yes. I might have one-night stands, but I refuse to have a walk of shame. The last time we met and I showed up with unbrushed teeth after i came right from Alex's place was diabolical. Never again.”

The barista collecting the trays raised his eyebrow. Ada and I looked at each other and non-verbally communicated to ignore him. From my own time working in cafés, I know baristas live for a bit of entertainment during a long shift.

“You know,” Ada said, “one day you really need to write down all those dating stories.”

“All those stories? As if I’m some village whore…” I snapped dramatically.

We both burst into grins: We knew exactly how playfully we meant it.

I squeezed her hands. “But I’m glad our coffee talks are still this good, now that you are a temporary house wife and I am the village whore. Feminsim failed us both.”

Ada made an offended noise and nudged me.

Then we grinned again and walked out of the café together.

“I’m happy about that too,” she said.

Later that evening…

I texted her: “It's happening. I'll write the stories down. Why should we only entertain the barista?”

And so here we are.

I’ll admit it: The purple bag backstory makes this all sound raunchier than this blog will actually be. Sure, there will be some spicy stories. But mostly, this space is for the deeper lessons people around me and I picked up throughout our dating life.
